For the Love of Her Country: Her Majesty Queen Sirikit Creates the SUPPORT

is a multi-media experience that examines the creation of the SUPPORT Foundation and how it has helped save and promote Thai village textile traditions and provided many Thai women with new skills and an important source of income.

As a result of Their travels around rural Thailand, begun in 1955, Their Majesties came to appreciate how difficult it was for farmers to support themselves, especially in the face of natural disasters. Her Majesty determined that weaving could provide a crucial secondary source of income for women and would also insure the survival of Thailand’s unique textile heritage. Using archival footage, historic and contemporary textiles, interviews, and documentaries created especially for the museum, this exhibition tells the story of Her Majesty’s ceaseless efforts to establish and expand SUPPORT, which has provided Thai weavers with training, encouragement, materials, and a ready market.
