Ceres Medal

On 11 May 1979, The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) presented Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother with the Ceres Medal at the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall of the Grand Palace. Presented along with the medal was a silver commemorative plaque engraved with a description of Her Majesty’s devotion to social work, helping rural women to generate income and enhancing the lives of her subjects.
The coin-shaped Ceres Medal is inscribed with the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on one side and a female farmer wearing a traditional palm leaf hat and holding ears of rice paddy in her hands on the other side. The inscription on the medal reads “To Give without Discrimination”.
