A Guide to Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles

Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles or QSMT is located inside the Ratsadakorn-bhibhathana Building the Grand Palace. Tourists can enter through Viset Chaisri Gate, as you enter the palace, the museum will be on your right side. For non-Thai visitors, admission to the museum is included in the Grand Palace visitor’s entry fee; please show your palace ticket at the ticket desk for museum admission. However, all visitors can buy only museum ticket at 150 Baht per person, for senior (over 65) 80 Baht, students (with ID card) 50 Baht, and no admission fee for children under 12.

Moreover, Visitors are required to dress appropriately. These following clothes are strictly not allowed as outer garments for both ladies and gentlemen: shorts, short skirts, tight fitting trousers, see-through outfits, culottes or quarter length trousers, sleeveless shirts or vests, as well as sandals (without ankle or heel straps).

Currently, there are two temporary exhibitions at the museum: “Fit For A Queen: Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s Creations by Balmain” and “Great and Good Friends: Historic Gifts Between the Kingdom of Thailand and the United States of America”

“Fit For A Queen: Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s Creations by Balmain” exhibition focuses on the long working relationship between Her Majesty and French couturier Pierre Balmain.
It displays Her Majesty’s stylish dresses designed by Balmain, which all of them are made from Thai silk.. Moreover, design sketches and embroidery swatches lent by House of Lesage are displayed for public.

“Great and Good Friends: Historic Gifts Between the Kingdom of Thailand and the United States of America” exhibition commemorates 200 years of friendship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the United States of America. It displays official gifts exchanged between the two nations at significant moments over the past 200 years. The exhibition will be held from March 21 – June 30, 2018.
